Abstract: This study investigates how listed deposit money banks in Nigeria use strategic management accounting (SMA) techniques to create value for stakeholders. The study used descriptive and multiple regression analyses to look at how different SMA aspects affect long-term value outcomes, using 304 management-level respondents. The results show that competitor accounting, customer accounting, and strategic costing greatly increase shareholder value, underscoring their crucial role in promoting long-term financial success. Also, decision-making, strategic thinking, and strategic planning and control demonstrated significant but statistically negligible benefits. The overall model was robust (Adjusted R² = 0.50; F(6,297) = 51.522; p < 0.001), suggesting that SMA practices explain half of the variations in value creation. These results underscore the need for Nigerian banks to institutionalize SMA approaches that integrate cost efficiency, competitive intelligence, and customer insights. By this, financial institutions can strengthen their adaptability, competitiveness, and long-term stakeholder satisfaction in an increasingly dynamic business environment.
