Dual Band Slotted Rectangular Microstrip Antennas in Mobile Radiocommunication Systems

Abstract: The goal of this paper is to propose a rectangular microstrip antenna with two frequency bands is carried out. The rectangular patch has a square slot to obtain the second band. The antenna has been designed for laboratory subjects in undergraduate courses in RF theory and applications. The antenna was modeled, simulated, and optimized using High Frequency Structure Simulation (HFSS). Additionally, this work includes the analysis of the ground layer size, which modifies the two operating frequencies and corresponding bandwidths. The H and E patterns and S11 parameter were obtained in the computational tool mentioned before and modified in order to get the optimal responses.
