Wireless EV Charging: A Sustainable Approach to Electric Mobility

Abstract: The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is primarily driven by their ability to cut travel costs and
reduce environmental harm by shifting from fuel-powered to electricpowered transportation. While traditional plug-in
charging stations are widely used, they often require long waiting times and planned stops. To make EVs more convenient
and efficient, this study explores the development of a wireless charging system based on electromagnetic induction. The
proposed system enables dynamic wireless charging, meaning EVs can recharge in motion. This innovative approach
eliminates the need for physical connectors and helps ease range anxiety, as vehicles receive a continuous power supply,
potentially reducing the size of onboard batteries. The system operates using a transmitting coil and a receiving coil,
ensuring efficient power transfer. A built-in voltage sensor monitors and adjusts voltage levels to maintain safe and
effective charging. Additionally, the system runs on solar energy, making it more sustainable and reducing dependency on
external power sources. Key components include solar panels, batteries, transformers, regulation circuits, copper coils,
AC-to-DC converters, an Atmega328p microcontroller, and an LCD display. This research aims to address challenges
related to efficiency and reliability in Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems, exploring different coil configurations and
compensation methods to optimize power transfer efficiency. The development of this system marks a significant step
toward more practical, userfriendly, and environmentally friendly EV charging solutions.
