Abstract: The present paper describes a comparative study on the properties of certain lightweight materials that are suitable for coating the external surfaces of small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, designed especially for military operations. The examined lightweight materials are aluminum, Plexiglas, nylon and other fabrics. This comparison is carried out both with the materials themselves and with those commonly used for this purpose, such as plastics or carbon fibers. The properties of particular interest are the strength of the materials, their specific gravity and their electromagnetic behavior, while the scope of study is to minimize the weight of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and to maximize the strength of their structure.
