Environmental Policy of Central Asian Countries in the SDG Context: Regional Challenges and Prospects

Abstract: Environmental safety is currently one of the most important factors in state development. The article examines the current vectors of the implementation of environmental measures to achieve results in the field of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the national and regional levels. The purpose of this study is a comparative analysis of environmental policy in the context of SDG implementation in the countries of the Central Asian region (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan). The scientific novelty of the research lies in the use of a set of modern methods, including comparative analysis, sociological surveys, and agent-based modeling. The study uses not only existing methods, but also their modification. The research methodology is based on the sustainable development concept. The main focus of the study is on the environmental aspects of the implementation of the SDGs in the Central Asian region and the SDG localization. In conclusion, practical recommendations are proposed for regional government bodies aimed at improving the effectiveness of environmental policy. The article was prepared within the framework of a grant from the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the project AP19679796 "Study of factors of regional development considering interregional relations and state regulation".
