Abstract: Coastal waste has the potential to become an environmental disaster. This article aims to identify the challenges in implementing coastal waste management laws and how legal approaches can anticipate such environmental disasters. This study is based on qualitative research employing both normative juridical and empirical juridical methods, with approaches including conceptual analysis, legislation, and empirical observation. The findings reveal that the implementation of coastal waste management law faces challenges in terms of legal substance, enforcement, logistics, infrastructures and community condition. Addressing these challenges comprehensively is essential to achieving sustainable coastal waste management.
