Abstract: This study aims to construct a competency assessment model for higher vocational art design teachers and conduct an empirical research. Firstly, it reviews the competency theory and relevant research on higher vocational art design teachers. Then, through literature analysis and expert interviews, the assessment indicators are initially determined, and the assessment model is constructed by using analytic hierarchy process. Next, the empirical research design is carried out. Teachers from higher vocational art design colleges in different regions are selected as the research objects, and questionnaire survey and interview methods are used to collect data. The data statistic problem is statistically described through the demonstration result, and the possibility of the difference of the ability of the difference teacher of the management and fact, model evaluation and test is analyzed. The results provide basic and practical suggestions for art and design teachers.
