Comparison Among Growth Models of Microalgae Cell for Biofuel Production

Abstract: Microalgae have emerged as promising candidates for biofuel production, driven by the increasing global emphasis on sustainable and renewable energy sources. As a biodegradable and environmentally friendly alternative, biodiesel derived from microalgae shows strong potential to replace conventional fossil fuels. The evaluation of growth kinetic models from both theoretical and practical perspectives highlights the need for more adaptive models that can dynamically respond to fluctuating cultivation conditions, thereby improving biofuel production outcomes. This research aims to compare growth models to optimize microalgal cell growth. We consider different models such as the Logistic model, Modified Richards model, Empirical dynamic model, Monod model, and Verhulst Logistic model to analyze microalgal cell growth. Logistic model, which depends on a specific maximum growth rate and initial concentration, demonstrated comparatively better predictive performance than the other four models, effectively capturing the growth pattern using key growth parameters.
