Determinants of Big Data Analytics Adoption: A Case Study of VIP Businesses in Albania
Authors: ,
Abstract: The progress of information technology enhances the firm's ability to manage tremendous quantities of structured and unstructured data. Big Data Analytics (BDA) is an advanced strategy that enables businesses to make better decisions about markets and customers’ needs by relying on analytical tools. Investigating the factors that affect BDA adoption has become an important research focus, particularly in developing nations facing constraints in resources and infrastructure. This study provides an examination of the essential factors that affect the adoption of BDA. It analyzes the relationship between several independent variables, such as technological, organizational, and environmental factors, and BDA adoption (as the dependent variable) in the case of Albania. Understanding the factors that affect the adoption of BDA is a key component for VIP (Very Important Person, in terms of business considered as a legal entity) businesses, especially for managers, to implement appropriate tactics that are crucial for its deployment. The study attempts to explore the determinants that influence BDA adoption by utilizing primary data gathered from a survey conducted among VIP businesses in Albania during the period from May to July 2024. The results of the statistical analysis show that the adoption of BDA is positively correlated with relative advantage, compatibility, top management support, competitive pressure, and external support. Furthermore, complexity, risk and insecurity, and organizational readiness are not statistically significant.
