Abstract: This paper presents the design of a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) voltage-controlled phase shift oscillator for antenna beamforming networks. The proposed oscillator generates sinusoidal signals with a simple circuit configuration that eliminates the need for on-chip inductors. It is suitable for chip-to-chip wireless communication interfaces and high-speed wireless systems, particularly in the millimeter-wave frequency band. These systems require phase-shift oscillators capable of precise multi-angle phase shifts. Using 180 nm CMOS technology, the design employs a five-stage RC network with optimized resistor and capacitor configurations. The circuit achieves precise phase shifts of 90º, 180º, and 270º based on voltage tuning. Simulations were conducted using Advanced Design System (ADS) software, with error analysis and sensitivity tests to validate the design's robustness under variable conditions.
