The Employment Situation and Future Employment Prospects Analysis in Mesuji Regency

Abstract: Employment is one of the main pillars in the development of a region, which not only covers aspects of the economic welfare of the community, but also becomes an indicator of the sustainability of economic growth in a region. In responding to the call of the times and the demands of globalization, efforts to identify employment prospects in Mesuji Regency need to be understood holistically. Where projections related to the workforce are the main focus for designing appropriate policies to support sustainable growth. The employment conditions of Mesuji Regency in 2010-2021 are known to have experienced quite significant fluctuations in the number of working population and open unemployment during that period. There was a decrease in open unemployment, where there was a general trend of decreasing open unemployment in recent years. This can be considered a positive development because it shows that more people are getting jobs. Overall, the employment prospects on the demand side of the workforce will still be lower than that offered, so that there are still unemployed people of around 3.22-3.71% of the total workforce. In the period 2022 - 2028, around 64,545.43 workers were absorbed, while during the period 2022 - 2028 it is estimated that around 51,127.39 workers were absorbed. In addition to the agricultural sector, other sectors that have the potential to absorb workers are industry, trade, and services.
