Sequential Use of Ordinal Multicriteria Methods to Obtain a Ranking for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games
Authors: , ,
Abstract: There is no official method to establish a final ranking for the Olympic Games. It is usual to rank the participant countries in these games in accordance with the number of medals they have won using a lexicographic multicriteria method. However, this does not take into account the fact that the various sports may be of different importance. This work proposes a ranking model to eliminate those drawbacks. Using the results of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games for the model, firstly, we use a Lexicographic multicriteria method in each sport. After obtaining a ranking for each and all sports, we build a general ranking by aggregating all the sports using a Bordamulticriteria method.
