Modeling, Control and Analysis of a Doubly Fed Induction Generator Based Wind Turbine System : Optimization of the Power Produced
Authors: ,
Abstract: In recent years, wind energy has become one of the most important and promising sources of renewable energy, which demands additional transmission capacity and better means of maintaining system reliability. The evolution of technology related to wind systems industry leaded to the development of a generation of variable speed wind turbines that present many advantages compared to the fixed speed wind turbines. This paper deals with the modeling and control of wind turbine driven doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) which feeds ac power to the utility grid. Initially, a model of the wind turbine and maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control strategy of the doubly-fed induction generator is presented. Thereafter, the control vector-oriented stator flux is performed. Finally, the simulation results of the wind system using a doubly fed of 3MW are presented in the Matlab / Simulink environment.
