Augmented and Virtual Reality based Human Resource Management and Its Impact on Organizational Sustainability

Abstract: Human Resource Management (HRM) and practice is one area that has been radically changing with the introduction of Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality and this paper seeks to discuss the two technologies that are revolutionizing HRM for organizational sustainability and for corporate organizations willing to succeed in the long-run for competitiveness. The paper is also aimed at investigating the economic viewpoint of PM at all the stages which include: recruitment, selection, employer branding, testing, internal communication enhancement, corporate culture development, workflow imitation, and remote staff management. Its objective is to present a literature review about how these technologies can complement multiple aspects of the HRM processes, such as selection, initial organizations, training, and appraisals. As a result, the present work aims at identifying the strengths and weaknesses of AR and VR applications and comparing them when applied to various scenarios related to HRM. Moreover, this paper also intends to discuss the application of AR/VR in HRM practices and practical outcomes of assimilation on the organizational culture, employee engagement, and overall organizational performance within the strategic framework of HRM. In this way, the research aims to provide useful recommendations and suggestions for the practical implementation of AR and VR for HRM professionals and other decision-makers interested in adopting the technologies in their organizations. Finally, the strength of this work will lie in the implications that it has for organizational decision making and the design of key strategic interventions related to employee engagement, learning, and development, as well as organizational sustainability through the effective integration of AR and VR technologies into select areas of the HRM architecture.
